It is with a heavy heart, yet filled with so much love and gratitude, that we announce the passing of Augustine Nshimye on April 3rd, 2026. Born on January 1st, 1947, Augustine lived a life of profound integrity and unwavering dedication, leaving an indelible mark on Uganda and on all of us who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a man of quiet strength, a sharp mind, and a warm smile that could light up a room. I’ll always remember his infectious laugh, especially when we were discussing a particularly tricky legal case – he had a way of explaining complex concepts with such clarity and humor that everyone understood.
Augustine’s career as a Ugandan judge, culminating in his service on the Supreme Court of Uganda from 2015-2017, was a testament to his commitment to justice and fairness. He approached every case with a deep sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to help those who had been wronged. But beyond the courtroom, Augustine was a devoted family man. He cherished his family above all else, and his love for his wife, [Wife's Name - if known, otherwise omit], and his children was boundless. He was the kind of father who always had time for a story, a listening ear, or just a comforting presence. He taught us the importance of kindness, patience, and always striving to do what is right, even when it’s difficult.
Outside of his professional and familial life, Augustine possessed a quiet passion for [mention a hobby if known, otherwise omit]. He found solace and joy in [mention hobby if known, otherwise omit], and it was clear that this pursuit brought him a deep sense of peace. He was a man who appreciated the simple things in life – a good book, a quiet walk in nature, and the company of loved ones. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life, treating everyone with respect and dignity. Augustine’s impact extended far beyond the legal realm; he fostered a sense of community wherever he went, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement.
Augustine’s passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him. He will be remembered not just as a respected judge, but as a loving husband, father, friend, and a truly remarkable human being.
