B. Wongar

January 1, 1932 - March 12, 2026 (Age 94)

B. Wongar passed away on March 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and wisdom. There were days when you could almost hear his laughter echoing through the rooms he called home. He had this incredible knack for making everyone feel seen, especially the people around him. I remember the way he would spend hours chatting with neighbors, sharing stories, and always making sure someone felt cared for. His heart was big and open, and that warmth touched everyone who crossed his path. B. was more than a writer—he was a friend, a storyteller, and a steady presence in our lives. His passion for the stories of Aboriginal people in Australia was truly remarkable. He had a gentle way of learning and teaching, and his work opened eyes that had long been closed. His love for language and culture was contagious, and his hobbies—whether it was gardening, painting, or simply sipping tea in the morning—showed a joy that never faded. Family was at the heart of his being. He cherished his relationships, always putting others first, and his kindness inspired us all. His family was a source of strength, and he would often share tales of his childhood in Serbia, reminding everyone of the roots that made him who he was. It’s hard to imagine without the laughter, the stories, and the love he brought into our lives. We will miss B. Wongar with a heavy heart, but we celebrate a life filled with purpose, love, and a deep connection to the world around him. May his memory live on in the stories he shared and the hearts he touched.
