Carol Eleanor Miller, born October 10, 1952, in Albion, New York, died on July 6, 2026, at her home in the same town where she had lived her entire life. She was 73.
Carol was the daughter of John and Alberta Kleinfelder Neilans. For much of her career, she worked for Orleans County as Director of Job Development, a role that reflected her commitment to her community. But those who knew her best remembered her most for the stack of books that was never far from her reach. She was an avid reader whose appetite for stories seemed endless, and she could often be found lost in whatever novel had captured her attention.
More than anything, Carol loved being a mother and grandmother. She was the kind of person who showed up when family needed her—not with fanfare, but with quiet presence and genuine help. Her son Daniel, her grandchildren Gaven and Kayli, and her four stepchildren—David Rossler, Wayne Rossler, Janice Schreffler, and Paula Nuhfer—all knew they could count on her. She was also close to her siblings John, James, and Peter Neilans, and to the many nieces and nephews who grew up with her grace and kindness as part of their lives.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son Daniel Miller, her grandchildren, her stepchildren, her siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
