Chen Lihua

January 1, 1941 - April 7, 2026 (Age 85)

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Lihua. Born on January 1st, 1941, she passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that’s as vibrant and impressive as the cityscapes she helped shape. Most people knew her as the founder and chairman of Fuwah International Group, a powerhouse in Beijing’s property development. But to me, and to so many of us, she was simply Lihua – a woman of incredible strength, unwavering determination, and a surprisingly mischievous twinkle in her eye. I remember once, years ago, she was negotiating a particularly tough deal and, just to break the tension, started humming a silly children’s song. It completely disarmed the other party and, well, the rest is history! That was Lihua – always finding a way to connect, to lighten the mood, even in the most serious situations. Family was everything to Lihua. She cherished her children and grandchildren, showering them with love and support, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams, no matter how ambitious. Sunday dinners at her home were legendary – a chaotic, joyful gathering filled with laughter, delicious food (she was a surprisingly good cook!), and endless stories. She was fiercely proud of her heritage and instilled in her family a deep appreciation for Chinese culture and traditions. Beyond her immediate family, she considered so many of her colleagues and friends to be extensions of her own, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. Lihua’s passion for building wasn’t just about business; it was about creating spaces that would enrich people’s lives. She had an incredible eye for design and a genuine desire to contribute to the beauty and vibrancy of Beijing. But her joy wasn’t solely found in the boardroom. She loved tending to her garden, finding peace and tranquility amongst the flowers and greenery. She was a voracious reader, always eager to learn something new, and she had a surprisingly competitive streak when it came to mahjong! Lihua’s impact on the world is undeniable, but it’s the countless acts of kindness, the unwavering support she offered, and the genuine warmth she radiated that we will miss the most. She proved that with hard work, determination, and a good dose of humor, anything is possible. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, dear Lihua. You built a beautiful life, and you will forever remain in our hearts.
