Christian Verrier

January 1, 1953 - April 28, 2026 (Age 73)

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Christian. Born on January 1st, 1953, he truly lived a life full of passion, and left us far too soon on April 28th, 2026. Most people knew Christian as a footballer – a proud member of LB Châteauroux for the vast majority of his career, with a little detour to Bourges thrown in for good measure! But to us, he was so much more than that. He wasn’t one for boasting about goals or games, though; he’d much rather talk about the camaraderie of the team, the thrill of the match, and the joy of playing the sport he loved. I remember him telling stories about his teammates, always with a twinkle in his eye and a laugh rumbling in his chest. He carried that same spirit into everything he did. Christian had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. He wasn’t a man of many words, but when he spoke, people listened. He had this quiet strength, a gentle kindness that drew people to him. He adored his family – his wife, the love of his life, and his children and grandchildren, who were his absolute world. He’d spend hours building elaborate Lego castles with the grandkids, patiently guiding little hands and celebrating every completed tower. He wasn’t afraid to be silly, to get down on the floor and play, and that’s what made him such a wonderful grandfather. He always had time for a phone call, a listening ear, or just a comforting presence. Beyond football, Christian found joy in the simple things. He loved tending to his garden, coaxing beautiful blooms from the earth, and he was a surprisingly talented woodworker, crafting little treasures for those he loved. He had a real appreciation for a good meal, shared with good company, and a glass of wine. He wasn’t one for grand gestures, but his consistent, unwavering love and support spoke volumes. He had a knack for making ordinary moments feel special. Christian leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and a genuine love for life. He touched so many hearts, and the world feels a little dimmer without his warm smile. We’ll miss his quiet strength, his gentle humor, and the way he made us all feel like family. He was, simply put, a good man, and we were so lucky to have him in our lives.
