David Scott (Georgia politician)|David Scott
January 1, 1946 - April 23, 2026 (Age 80)
David Scott was the kind of man who could walk into a room and make you feel like you were the only person there. Born on New Year’s Day in 1946, he left us on April 23, 2026, but the warmth of his presence is something our family will feel forever. To the world, he was a dedicated public servant who represented Georgia with distinction—first in the State House, then the Senate, and for decades in the U.S. House of Representatives. But to us, he was simply "Dad" or "Honey," the man who wore his heart on his sleeve and loved fiercely.
I’ll never forget the way David’s face would light up when he talked about the people he represented. He didn’t just see constituents; he saw neighbors, friends, and fellow Georgians whose dreams he genuinely wanted to help build. Even during the busiest legislative sessions, he made time for the little things that mattered most. I can still picture him on the porch on a Sunday afternoon, still in his dress shirt but with the sleeves rolled up, drinking sweet tea and listening intently to a neighbor’s story. He had a way of making you believe that things could get better, and he worked tirelessly to make sure they did.
His joy wasn't found in the halls of Washington or Atlanta, but in the quiet moments at home. He loved a good debate, a well-told story, and gathering the family around the table for a meal that lasted hours because no one wanted to leave the conversation. He taught us that public service was a noble calling, but family was the anchor. Whether he was fighting for his district or teaching his grandchildren how to plant a garden, he did it with the same steady hand and compassionate heart.
Losing David feels like losing a piece of our foundation, but we take comfort in knowing the impact he had on so many lives. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, hard work, and an immense amount of love. We will miss his booming laugh, his wise counsel, and his unwavering support, but we are forever grateful for the time we had with him. Rest easy, David; you did good work, and you were so very loved.
