David Wiffen

January 1, 1942 - April 7, 2026 (Age 84)

It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to David Wiffen, a man whose spirit was as warm and steady as the melody of “Driving Wheel.” To us, he wasn’t just a songwriter whose words were sung by others; he was the quiet, thoughtful uncle who’d pull out his guitar after Sunday dinner, his voice a gentle, weathered rumble that turned our living room into a folk club. He had this way of making you feel seen, listening with his whole heart, his eyes crinkling at the corners. I’ll forever remember him on his back porch in British Columbia, tea in hand, watching the sunset over the trees while humming a new tune, finding profound joy in the simplest, most beautiful moments. David’s world revolved around his family. He was a devoted and playful husband to his beloved Margaret, a patient and encouraging father to his children, and a grandfather who lit up with a child’s laughter
