Driss Guiga

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Driss. He left us peacefully on April 20th, 2026, at the remarkable age of 101. Born on January 1st, 1925, Driss lived a life brimming with purpose, passion, and a quiet, unwavering kindness that touched everyone he met. He was a man of deep integrity, a brilliant lawyer, and a dedicated public servant, having served as Minister of the Interior for four years during a pivotal time in Tunisia. But more than any title, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. I remember once, when I was a young boy, he patiently explained the intricacies of Tunisian law to me, not with the dryness of a textbook, but with captivating stories and a twinkle in his eye. He had a way of making everything interesting, of finding the humanity in even the most complex situations. Driss’s love for his family was the bedrock of his life.
