Eladio Zárate

January 1, 1942 - May 7, 2026 (Age 84)

Eladio Zárate graced our lives with his presence for 84 beautiful years, and though his passing on May 4th left our hearts heavy, his spirit lives on in every goal he cheered, every story he shared, and every life he touched. Born on January 1st, 1942, Eladio wasn't just our family patriarch—he was our hero, our storyteller, and our eternal optimist who greeted each morning with that distinctive spark in his eye and a whisper of "¡Vamos!" on his lips. To those who knew him, Eladio was pure magic in motion. On the football field, he carved out a remarkable career playing for Club Atlético Huracán, Unión Española, and proudly representing Paraguay in the 1963 South American Championship. But even when the crowds faded and the stadium lights dimmed, his greatest victories were happening off the field—at our dinner table, where his laughter could fill a room, or in his garden, where he nurtured not just plants but dreams, teaching us that patience and dedication yield beautiful results. His love for family was the heartbeat of our gatherings. Whether it was teaching his young grandchildren to kick a ball or sharing wisdom earned from decades of life experience, Eladio made everyone feel seen and cherished. His hands, once so deft on the ball, now gently brushed our cheeks, his embrace always slightly stronger than before, as if to remind us just how much we belonged. He found joy in simple moments—the smell of fresh coffee in the morning, the sound of children playing fútbol in the street, Sunday family dinners that stretched into twilight. Eladio's impact rippled far beyond our immediate circle. Teammates remembered his sportsmanship, neighbors recalled his willingness to help, and countless young players he inspired carried pieces of his determination with them. He approached life with the same passion
