George Dunn (RAF officer)|George Dunn

January 1, 1923 - April 30, 2026 (Age 103)

George Dunn was the kind of man who walked into a room and somehow made everyone feel like they'd known him for years. Born on New Year's Day 1923, he brought that same bright energy to every chapter of his remarkable life. As a young man, he answered the call of duty and served with great pride in the Royal Air Force, where his courage and steady nature earned him the respect of his comrades. Those who served alongside him often recalled his unwavering calm under pressure and the way he could always be counted on when the chips were down. His years in the RAF weren't just about duty—they forged friendships that would last a lifetime. After his service, George returned to civilian life with the same dedication he'd shown in the skies. He built a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Margaret, who preceeded him in death five years ago. Together they raised a family filled with laughter, Sunday roasts, and the kind of unconditional love that wraps around you like a warm blanket. He was a devoted father to his three children, a doting grandfather to six grandchildren, and recently a great-grandfather to two little ones who absolutely adoringly called him "G-Pa." Family was truly the heart of everything George did. What many didn't know about George was his mischievous sense of humor and his love of a good puzzle. He could spend hours working through crosswords, always competing with himself to finish faster than the day before. Every Christmas, he'd gather the grandchildren around and tell the same stories from his RAF days—each one more dramatic than the last, and not a single one to be taken at face value! He also had a passion for gardening, tending to his roses with the patience and care of a man who understood that good things take time. His garden was always the envy of the neighbourhood, and he'd happily share cuttings with anyone who admired them. But what George gave to this world cannot be measured in hobbies or accomplishments. He gave people his time, his attention, and his genuine interest in their lives. He was the man who remembered every child's name, every neighbour's birthday, and every story anyone ever told him. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. George lived103 wonderful years, and he left this world on April 30th, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved more than anything. He taught us all what it means to live with integrity, humor, and an open heart. We miss him terribly, but we carry him with us in every kindness we show and every story we tell. Sleep well, Dad. You've earned it.
