Gerald Paddio
January 1, 1966 - April 6, 2026 (Age 60)
It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Gerry. Our Gerry Paddio, born on January 1st, 1966, left us far too soon on April 6th, 2026. He was a force of nature, a whirlwind of laughter and loyalty, and a man who lived life with a passion that was truly infectious. Most people knew him as the basketball player – the guy who bounced around the NBA, wearing the colors of the Cavaliers, Pacers, Knicks, and a few others along the way. And yes, he was incredibly talented, a small forward with a killer jump shot and a competitive spirit that never quit. I remember one time, back in college, he practiced free throws until the gym lights were about to be turned off, just determined to perfect his form. That was Gerry – always striving, always pushing himself.
But Gerry was so much more than just a basketball player. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, and the most incredible uncle you could ask for. He cherished his family above all else, and his Sunday dinners were legendary – overflowing with laughter, good food, and stories that would have you crying with joy. He had this goofy grin that could light up a room, and he always knew how to make you feel seen and appreciated. He loved tinkering in his garage, building things and fixing things, and he was a surprisingly good cook, especially when it came to grilling. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, sharing a meal, a joke, or just a quiet moment of connection.
Gerry had a way of making everyone around him feel special. He was the friend who always showed up, the shoulder you could cry on, the cheerleader who believed in you even when you didn’t believe in yourself. He volunteered at the local youth center, coaching basketball and mentoring kids, always wanting to give back and inspire the next generation. He left an indelible mark on so many lives, and his kindness and generosity will be deeply missed.
We’ll miss his booming laugh, his terrible puns, and the way he could always make us smile, even on the toughest days. Gerry, you were a true original, a wonderful man, and we’ll carry your memory in our hearts forever. Rest easy, sweet Gerry. We love you.
