Gerald Paddio
January 1, 1966 - April 6, 2026 (Age 60)
It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Gerry. Our Gerry Paddio, born on January 1st, 1966, left us far too soon on April 6th, 2026. He was a force of nature, a whirlwind of laughter and loyalty, and a man who lived life with a passion that was truly infectious. Most people knew him as the basketball player – the guy who bounced around the NBA, wearing the colors of the Cavaliers, Pacers, Knicks, and a few others along the way. He was drafted by the Celtics, and while his career didn’t last as long as he’d hoped, he always talked about those years with such pride and a mischievous grin, remembering the road trips, the locker room jokes, and the thrill of the game. I’ll always remember him trying to teach me a crossover dribble – I was hopeless, of course, but he just laughed and said, "Hey, at least you're trying!"
But Gerry was so much more than just a basketball player. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, and the most incredible uncle anyone could ask for. He cherished his family above all else, always making time for Sunday dinners, impromptu visits, and endless games of cards. He had this way of making everyone feel seen and special, remembering birthdays and anniversaries with a thoughtfulness that was rare. He loved a good barbeque, a classic movie (especially Westerns!), and tinkering in his garage – he wasn’t much of a mechanic, but he enjoyed the process! And oh, the stories he could tell! He had a knack for turning even the most mundane moments into hilarious adventures.
Gerry had a way of brightening any room he walked into. He was generous with his time and his spirit, always willing to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement. He inspired so many people with his positive attitude and his unwavering belief in the good in others. He taught us the importance of laughter, the power of perseverance, and the value of family. He left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him, and his memory will continue to bring smiles and warmth to our hearts.
We’ll miss his booming laugh, his terrible jokes, and his unwavering love. Gerry, you were one of a kind, and we’ll carry you with us always. Rest easy, my friend.
