Gerard Williams (American football)|Gerard Williams

January 1, 1953 - April 4, 2026 (Age 73)

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Gerry. April 4th felt…wrong, like a page ripped out of a really good story. Gerry, born January 1st, 1953, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the people who loved him most. I’ve known Gerry since we were kids, chasing footballs in the dusty fields of Oklahoma, and honestly, he’s always been the same – a whirlwind of infectious laughter, a stubborn streak a mile wide, and a heart bigger than any stadium. We’d spend hours after practice, not talking about plays or stats, just shooting the breeze, him telling ridiculous stories about his childhood, and me just grinning because I knew they were probably embellished tenfold. He wasn’t just a football player; he was my brother, my confidant, and the guy who always knew how to make me laugh, even when I felt like crying. Gerry’s football career was incredible – Redskins, 49ers, Cardinals – he played with a passion and grit that was truly inspiring. But for Gerry, it wasn’t just about the wins and the accolades. He loved the camaraderie of the team, the challenge of the game, and the feeling of pushing himself to be better. Beyond the field, though, that’s where he truly shone. He was a devoted husband to his beloved Carol, and the two of them built a life filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of family gatherings. He adored his kids and grandkids, always making time for them, whether it was coaching their little league teams or just building epic Lego castles. He had this incredible ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, a genuine warmth that drew people to him. He wasn’t one for fancy hobbies, really. Gerry found joy in the simple things – a perfectly grilled steak, a good book, a long walk with Carol. He was a fiercely loyal friend, always ready with a helping hand or a listening ear. He had this way of making you feel like you were the most important person in the room, and that’s a gift that will be deeply missed. The impact he had on those around him, both on and off the field, is immeasurable. He taught us the importance of hard work, dedication, and, most importantly, kindness. Gerry, you were a force of nature, a true original, and we’ll carry your spirit with us always. We’ll miss your booming laugh, your terrible jokes, and your unwavering love. Rest easy, my friend.
