Gheorghe Urschi
January 1, 1948 - April 13, 2026 (Age 78)
It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Gheorghe. Our beloved Gheorghe Urschi, a man who brought laughter and light into so many lives, passed away peacefully on April 13th, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on January 1st, 1948, Gheorghe lived a life brimming with creativity, passion, and an infectious joy that touched everyone he met. He was, of course, known throughout Moldova as a celebrated actor, director, and comedian – a People's Artist, no less, a title he earned in 2012 and wore with such humble grace. But to us, he was so much more than that. He was Dad, Grandpa, brother, friend, and the heart of our family.
I’ll never forget the time he tried to teach me to juggle oranges. It was a disaster, of course, with more fruit on the floor than in the air, but he laughed harder than I did, and that’s what I’ll always remember – his ability to find humor in everything, even his own mishaps. That was Gheorghe. He had a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a quick wit that could disarm anyone. His career spanned over forty years, bringing smiles to countless faces on stage and screen, and he poured his heart and soul into every role. He loved the theatre, the energy of the audience, the camaraderie of his fellow actors. But his greatest joy, without a doubt, was his family. He cherished his children and grandchildren, showering them with love, silly jokes, and unwavering support. He was fiercely proud of each and every one of us.
Gheorghe’s warmth and generosity extended far beyond his immediate family. He had a knack for making people feel seen and valued, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. He mentored young actors, sharing his wisdom and passion, and inspired so many to pursue their dreams. He was a true storyteller, captivating audiences with his performances and leaving a lasting impact on Moldovan culture. He loved a good glass of wine, a lively conversation, and a hearty laugh – often all three at the same time!
We’ll miss his booming laugh, his terrible jokes (that we secretly loved), and the comforting presence he brought to every room. The world feels a little dimmer without his light. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we’ll forever hold onto the beautiful memories and the enduring legacy of love and laughter that Gheorghe Urschi leaves behind. He is survived by his beloved [mention family members - children, grandchildren, siblings etc. - if desired]. May he rest in peace.
