Gianluca Cherubini
January 1, 1974 - April 2, 2026 (Age 52)
It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Gianluca. He left us far too soon, on April 2nd, 2026, at the age of 52. For those of us who knew and loved him, the world feels a little quieter, a little less bright. Gianluca was, simply put, a force of nature – full of laughter, passion, and a warmth that could fill a room. I remember once, we were on a road trip, and a sudden downpour soaked us both to the bone. Most people would have grumbled, but Gianluca just threw his head back and roared with laughter, completely unbothered. That was him – finding joy even in the unexpected, and sharing it with everyone around him.
Football was, of course, a huge part of his life. He poured his heart and soul into it, playing for Reggiana, Chieti, Torres, and even battling back from a terrifying aneurysm in 2006 – a testament to his incredible strength and spirit. He wasn’t just a player; he was a teammate, a leader, and someone who truly loved the game. But beyond the pitch, Gianluca was a devoted husband, a loving son, and the most incredible uncle to his nieces and nephews. He cherished his family above all else, always making time for them, always ready with a hug, a silly joke, or just a listening ear. He had this knack for making everyone feel seen and valued, a genuine kindness that drew people to him.
Gianluca’s passions extended beyond football, too. He loved a good espresso, a lively debate about politics (always with a twinkle in his eye!), and spending time outdoors, whether it was hiking in the hills or simply relaxing in the sun. He was a man of simple pleasures, finding contentment in the everyday moments. He leaves behind his beloved wife, [Wife's Name - to be added], his parents, [Parents' Names - to be added], his siblings, and a whole host of friends and family who will miss him dearly.
Gianluca’s legacy isn’t just about goals scored or games played. It’s about the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He taught us to embrace life with open arms, to find joy in the small things, and to never give up, even when faced with adversity. We’ll miss you terribly, Gianluca. Your memory will forever be a blessing.
