Glen Baxter (artist)|Glen Baxter

January 1, 1944 - March 31, 2026 (Age 82)

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Glen. He slipped away peacefully on March 29th, 2026, just shy of his 82nd birthday, after a brave battle with carcinomatosis. But even as his body weakened, his mind remained as wonderfully, delightfully peculiar as ever. Glen was, to put it simply, one of a kind. Most people knew him as the brilliant artist behind those wonderfully nonsensical drawings – the ones that made you chuckle and scratch your head in equal measure. I remember once, he was sketching a badger riding a bicycle made of sausages, and when I asked him what it meant, he just grinned and said, "It means Tuesday, dear." That was Glen in a nutshell – embracing the absurd, finding joy in the unexpected, and never taking himself too seriously. Family was everything to Glen. He adored his nieces and nephews, regaling them with fantastical stories and encouraging their own creative pursuits, often with a pencil and a very blank piece of paper. He was a devoted brother, always there with a listening ear and a quirky perspective. He and his sister, Margaret, shared a bond forged in childhood mischief and a mutual appreciation for the ridiculous. He found immense comfort and joy in simple things: a good cup of tea, a rainy afternoon spent sketching, and the company of those he loved. He wasn’t one for grand gestures, but his quiet acts of kindness and unwavering support spoke volumes. Glen’s art wasn’t just a career; it was an extension of his soul. He poured his unique brand of whimsicality onto paper, creating worlds populated by improbable creatures and delightfully illogical scenarios. He found beauty in the bizarre, and he had a remarkable ability to make others see it too. He inspired countless people to embrace their own creativity, to not be afraid to be silly, and to find humor in the everyday. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, imagination, and a reminder that sometimes, the most profound truths are hidden within the most absurd of drawings. We’ll miss his mischievous twinkle, his dry wit, and the way he could always make us smile. Glen, you brought so much joy and wonder into our lives. Rest peacefully, dear friend. You’ll forever be sketched into our hearts.
