Gordon Livsey

January 1, 1947 - April 19, 2026 (Age 79)

It is with heavy hearts, but a lifetime of beautiful memories, that we say goodbye to our beloved Gordon Livsey, who passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at the age of 79. To the world, he might have been the reliable presence between the posts, a goalkeeper with steady hands and an even steadier heart. But to us, he was simply Gordon—the man whose laughter could fill a room and whose kindness was as constant as the tides. Gordon’s life was defined by a passion for the game, a grit and determination he carried from his playing days at Wrexham, Chester, and Hartlepool United. He lived for the roar of the crowd and the camaraderie of the dressing room, but he never let the glory of the pitch define him. Even after hanging up his gloves, he remained a man who understood the value of teamwork and the importance of showing up for your people. He approached life much like he approached a difficult match: with patience, focus, and a refusal to give up when things got tough. Away from the bright lights of the football league, Gordon found his greatest joys in the quiet moments. He was a man who loved the simple things—a good conversation, a well-timed joke, and the warmth of a home filled with family. He was the anchor of our family, the one we turned to for a calm word or a reassuring smile. Whether he was sharing stories of old matches or simply sitting in a comfortable silence, his presence was a gift. He taught us that true strength isn't found in how much you can defend, but in how much love you can give. The impact Gordon left on those around him is immeasurable. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and heard, leaving a trail of friendship wherever he went. While his absence leaves a void that feels impossible to fill, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in every goal celebrated, every lesson taught, and every memory shared. We miss you dearly, Gordon, but we are so incredibly lucky that you were ours. Rest easy; the game is won, and you played it beautifully.
