It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Harald Ofner on April 9th, 2026, at the age of 93. Harald was a man of many facets – a dedicated lawyer, a committed politician, and above all, a deeply loving friend, brother, uncle, and father. Born on January 1st, 1933, Harald lived a life full of purpose and passion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He approached everything with a quiet determination and a sharp wit that could always bring a smile to your face. I’ll always remember his infectious laugh and the twinkle in his eye when he was sharing a story – often one that involved a bit of political maneuvering or a clever legal argument! Harald’s dedication to Austria was unwavering. As a lawyer and politician, serving as Minister of Justice and a Member of the National Council for many years, he always strived to make a positive difference. He believed in fairness and justice, and he fought tirelessly for what he thought was right. But politics was just one part of the story. He found immense joy in the simple things – a good book, a walk in the mountains, and spending time with his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always offering guidance and support with patience and understanding. His family was truly his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Beyond his professional and family life, Harald had a keen interest in the world around him. He was a man of intellect and curiosity, always eager to learn and engage in thoughtful conversation. He had a surprising talent for tinkering and could often be found in his workshop, putting things together or taking them apart – always with a methodical approach. He was a man who valued hard work, integrity, and loyalty, and those qualities shone through in every aspect of his life. Harald will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, his wisdom, and his unwavering commitment to his principles. He taught us the importance of perseverance, the value of family, and the power of a good, honest argument. We will forever cherish the memories we shared with him and hold them close to our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Harald. You will never be forgotten.
