Hayat Al-Fahad
January 1, 1948 - April 21, 2026 (Age 78)
It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Hayat, our beloved Hayat Al-Fahad. She left us on April 21st, 2026, just shy of her 78th birthday, leaving a void in our hearts and in the world of Kuwaiti entertainment that will be impossible to fill. For so many of us, Hayat *was* Kuwaiti television. Who could forget ‘Um Harun,’ that wonderfully eccentric and endlessly quotable character? But Hayat was so much more than just a role; she *became* those characters, breathing life and laughter into them with a mischievous twinkle in her eye and a warmth that radiated from the screen. I remember once, years ago, bumping into her at a local market. She recognized me instantly, despite the years, and gave me the biggest, warmest hug, just like ‘Um Harun’ would. That was Hayat – generous, genuine, and always ready with a smile.
Hayat was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them. I know her nieces and nephews adored her, hanging on her every story and mimicking her iconic lines. She was the heart of family gatherings, the one who always made sure everyone felt loved and included. Beyond her family, Hayat had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She had a knack for making you feel seen and heard, and her laughter was truly infectious. Her work in *Khalti Qumasha*, *Ruqiya wa Sabika*, *Jarh Al Zaman*, and *'ndama Tu'Gany Al Zuhor* brought joy to countless homes across the Gulf, and her writing and producing talents ensured that Kuwaiti storytelling thrived for generations.
But Hayat’s passions extended beyond the screen. She loved poetry, she was a keen observer of people, and she always had a story to tell. She found immense joy in sharing her knowledge and experience, mentoring young actors and writers and encouraging them to embrace their creativity. She was a true pioneer, breaking barriers and paving the way for women in Kuwaiti media. Her legacy isn't just in the characters she played, but in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her humor, and her unwavering spirit.
We’ll miss her terribly – her wit, her warmth, her unforgettable presence. But we’ll also celebrate her incredible life, a life lived with passion, purpose, and an abundance of love. Rest in peace, dear Hayat. You will forever be in our hearts.
