Helen Nakimuli

January 1, 1986 - April 20, 2026 (Age 40)

Helen Nakimuli was the kind of person who could light up a room just by walking into it. Born on July 2, 1985, Helen grew up with an infectious laugh and a spirit that could rally anyone around her. Whether she was serving aces on the volleyball court or passionately advocating for her community in Kalangala District, Helen approached everything with the same fierce determination and warm heart. She had this incredible ability to make everyone feel seen and heard, whether they were family, friends, or constituents. Helen's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was the glue that held everyone together, always organizing family gatherings that somehow managed to include volleyball matches, political debates, and her famous matooke. Her nieces and nephews adored her, and she had a special way of making each one feel like they were her favorite. Helen was also incredibly close to her siblings, often saying that they were her first and most important team. Her home was always open, with a pot of tea ready and a listening ear for anyone who needed it. Beyond her family, Helen's passions were many. She loved the rhythm of politics, the strategy of volleyball, and the simple joy of a sunset over Lake Victoria. As a member of the National Unity Platform and later as an MP, she fought tirelessly for the people of Kalangala, believing deeply in the power of community and representation. Her colleagues remember her as someone who could bridge divides with her humor and empathy, always finding common ground even in the most heated debates. Helen's passing on April 19, 2026, after complications from surgery, left a void that can never be filled. But her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the changes she championed, and the love she shared so freely. She taught us all to stand tall, serve with purpose, and never underestimate the power of a kind word. Helen Nakimuli was more than a politician or an athlete—she was a force of nature, a devoted sister, aunt, and friend, and a true champion for her people. We will miss her laughter, her wisdom, and the way she made every day brighter just by being in it. Rest well, Helen. You were, and always will be, deeply loved.
