Jacques Michel
January 1, 1942 - March 9, 2026 (Age 84)
Jacques Michel, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, left this world on March 9, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of music, laughter, and unconditional love that will echo through our hearts forever.
Those who knew Jacques understood that his greatest joy came from sharing his gift of music with others. Whether he was performing on stage, composing in his study, or simply singing along to the radio while making breakfast, music was the language through which he expressed his deepest emotions. His gentle spirit and warm smile could light up any room, and his quick wit kept us all laughing until our sides hurt. We'll never forget how he would break into song at the most unexpected moments - during family dinners, while changing a lightbulb, or even in the middle of a serious conversation, just to make us smile.
Family meant everything to Jacques. He was the devoted husband of Marie for 58 wonderful years, and together they built a home filled with music, love, and endless support. As a father to Sophie and Pierre, he was our biggest cheerleader, always encouraging us to follow our dreams while reminding us that family came first. His grandchildren - Emma, Lucas, and little Juliette - were the light of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to teach them a new song or share stories from his youth. Those summer evenings on the porch, with Jacques playing guitar while the grandchildren sang along, are memories we'll treasure forever.
Beyond his musical talents, Jacques found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid gardener who could spend hours tending to his roses, a passionate reader of French literature, and a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan who never missed a game. But what truly defined him was his generous spirit and his ability to make everyone feel valued and heard. Whether it was his fellow musicians, his neighbors, or the barista at his favorite café, Jacques had a gift for making genuine connections with people from all walks of life.
Though we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Jacques's music and his love will continue to surround us. His melodies will forever play in our hearts, and his kindness will live on through all those whose lives he touched. As he would often say, "La musique est l'âme qui ne meurt jamais" - music is the soul that never dies. And so, our dear Jacques, your beautiful soul lives on in every note, every memory, and every heart you touched.
