Jacques Michel

January 1, 1942 - March 7, 2026 (Age 84)

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jacques Michel, born January 1st, 1942, and peacefully departed this life on March 7th, 2026, at the age of 84. Jacques, or as many of us knew him, simply Jacques, was a truly special man – a gifted musician, a warm friend, and a beloved father. I’ll never forget the first time I heard him play his guitar, a little hesitant at first, but then bursting with a melody that just seemed to pour straight from his soul. He had this incredible ability to tell stories with his music, stories of life, love, and everything in between. He wasn’t one for grand pronouncements, but his songs spoke volumes. Jacques’s life was a melody of passion and kindness. He poured his heart and soul into his music, earning him the prestigious Grand Prix de Festival de Spa in 1970 – an honour he always wore with quiet pride. Beyond the accolades, though, he found the greatest joy in connecting with people through his art. He’d often tell us how much it meant to him to see people singing along, to feel the music bringing them together. He was a devoted father to his children, always offering a listening ear and a comforting presence. He cherished family gatherings, and his table was always laden with good food and even better company. He had a twinkle in his eye and a ready smile, and he always made you feel seen and appreciated. Jacques wasn't just a musician; he was a storyteller, a confidante, and a source of unwavering support. He had a knack for knowing exactly what you needed, whether it was a gentle word of encouragement or a perfectly timed song. He embraced life with a gentle spirit and a deep appreciation for the beauty around him. He found joy in simple things – a beautiful sunset, a good cup of tea, the laughter of loved ones. He believed in the power of music to heal and to connect, and he lived his life as a testament to that belief. Jacques leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous spirit. His music will continue to resonate, a gentle reminder of the beautiful soul that was Jacques Michel. We are so grateful for the time we had with him. Rest in peace, dear Jacques. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
