Whether she was passionately advocating for her constituents in the Louisiana House of Representatives, where she served with distinction from 1998 to 2012, or warmly welcoming visitors to the Germantown Colony and Museum as its director, Jean’s presence was both commanding and deeply comforting. She possessed that rare gift of making every person she met feel seen and valued, her sharp wit and ready laugh disarming even the most skeptical. She was the heart and soul of countless gatherings, her kitchen always open, her advice always wise, and her embrace always genuine. Family was Jean’s anchor and her greatest joy. She poured her boundless love into her children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent together, whether it was sharing stories over a home-cooked meal, cheering loudly at their events, or simply enjoying the quiet comfort of each other’s company. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the unmistakable scent of something delicious baking. Beyond her family, Jean found immense joy in preserving the rich history of her beloved Webster Parish through the museum, bringing stories of the past to life with infectious enthusiasm. She also had a deep love for gardening, nurturing beautiful flowers and finding peace in her own little patch of earth. Jean’s impact was immeasurable.
