It's with a heavy heart, but also with so much love and gratitude, that we announce the passing of Jimmy Sullivan on April 11th, 2026. Born on January 1st, 1982, Jimmy brought a warmth and genuine spirit to everyone he met. I have so many memories of him – his infectious laugh, that twinkle in his eye when he was telling a story, and his unwavering optimism, even when things were tough. He wasn’t one for grand gestures, but he had a way of making you feel seen and valued. Remember that time he tried to build a birdhouse for his niece, Lily? It was a glorious, chaotic mess, but Lily absolutely adored it, and it perfectly captured Jimmy’s heart – full of kindness and a willingness to dive in headfirst. Jimmy was fiercely devoted to his family, and his love for his wife, Sarah, and their children, Leo and Maya, was the cornerstone of everything he did. He was the kind of dad who always had a story ready, a helping hand, or just a quiet presence to listen. His family was his everything, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Beyond his family, Jimmy had a deep passion for community. He always spoke of wanting to make a positive difference, and that’s what drove him to pursue a career in politics. He genuinely cared about the people of Queensland and dedicated himself to representing their interests with integrity and compassion. He wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he believed in, always striving to create a fairer and more inclusive society. Outside of politics, Jimmy found joy in simple things – a good book, a hike in the mountains, and spending time with friends. He was a keen gardener, always experimenting with new plants and finding beauty in the smallest details. He loved to share his passion with others, and always had a kind word and a listening ear. He approached every day with a sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn. He wasn't afraid to be himself, and that authenticity drew people to him. Jimmy’s impact on so many lives is immeasurable. He showed us the power of kindness, the importance of community, and the belief that even small actions can make a big difference. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the enduring legacy of love and service he leaves behind. He will be forever in our hearts.
