Kim Yong-chae

January 1, 1932 - March 12, 2026 (Age 94)

Kim Yong-chae was the heart and soul of our family, a man whose kindness and quiet strength defined him. He had this warm, gentle smile that could instantly put you at ease, and a laugh that was like music, especially when sharing stories over endless cups of traditional tea. He adored his family, fiercely proud of his children and grandchildren, and found pure joy in simple gatherings – whether it was helping prepare meals in the kitchen or tending to his beloved plants in the small garden behind his home. He taught us the value of hard work, integrity, and treating everyone with respect, lessons he lived every single day. While he served our community as Mayor of Nowon District with dedication, his true passion was always people. He wasn't about grand gestures; it was the small acts of care that defined him – remembering a neighbor's birthday, offering a listening ear, or quietly helping someone in need. He took immense pride in the improvements made during his time, seeing them not just as projects, but as ways to make life better for the families walking those streets. His commitment to fostering a sense of belonging in Nowon was genuine and heartfelt. He leaves behind a legacy not in political milestones, but in the countless lives he touched with his warmth and generosity. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather whose presence was a constant source of comfort and love. We will miss his gentle guidance, his unwavering support, and the simple, profound wisdom he shared. Our dearest Kim Yong-chae, rest in peace, knowing you were deeply loved and will be forever remembered. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his remarkable life.
