Larry Donnell Silver

Larry Donnell Silver, 69, passed away on June 16, 2026, at UNC Nash Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC. Born on March 21, 1957, at Parkview Hospital in Rocky Mount, Larry grew up with deep roots in his community. He attended North Whitakers Elementary School in Whitakers and later graduated from Northern Nash Senior High in Rocky Mount. Larry was a hardworking man who spent many of his years at Barnes Tin Shop in Rocky Mount. When the shop closed, he continued his dedication to his craft by working alongside his brother, Curtis Silver, in the roofing business. He was a loving and caring person who had his own unique way of dealing with everyone, though those who knew him well know that you didn't want to get on his bad side. He found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending quality time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed the excitement of watching ball games. Larry’s presence will be missed by those who shared in these moments and those who appreciated his distinct personality. Larry is survived by his special friend and caretaker, Shelia Whitehead, and his son, William Gorham and daughter-in-law Crystal. He is also survived by his brother, Curtis Silver and sister-in-law Joystine of Whitakers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ricks and Katie Silver of Whitakers, as well as his brothers Arthur, Willie, Leeroy, and Joseph Lee Silver.
