Laurie Webb

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Laurie. Born on January 1st, 1925, and leaving us far too soon on April 2nd, 2026, he packed a lifetime of laughter, stories, and genuine warmth into his ninety-one years. Most folks knew him as Lawrence Webb, the Welsh actor who graced our screens in shows like *Doctor Who*, *Paul Temple*, and *Doomwatch*. And yes, he was incredibly proud of those roles, always happy to recount a funny moment on set or a particularly challenging scene. But to those of us who loved him, he was simply Laurie – a twinkle-eyed, mischievous soul with a heart as big as the Welsh hills he grew up on. I remember once, he was telling me about filming a scene in *Doctor Who* and got so caught up in the story, he started doing the Dalek voice, complete with the jerky movements! He just had this infectious joy about him. Family was everything to Laurie. He had a quiet strength, a steadfast loyalty, and a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. Beyond acting, Laurie was a passionate gardener, his little patch of earth bursting with color and life. He could spend hours tending to his roses, and he always had a fresh bouquet to share. He also loved a good crossword puzzle, and was fiercely competitive when it came to a game of cards. But above all, he loved connecting with people. He had a knack for striking up conversations with anyone, from the postman to the shopkeeper, and leaving them feeling a little brighter than before. Laurie Webb leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a genuine appreciation for the simple joys in life. He touched so many lives with his warmth and generosity, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
