It feels impossible to say goodbye to Luciana. Losing her has left a hole in our lives that can never truly be filled. Born in January of '84, Luciana brought a sunshine-filled spirit to everything she did. I’ll always remember her infectious laugh, the way her eyes sparkled when she was passionate about something – whether it was advocating for people with disabilities or planning a spontaneous weekend trip. She had this incredible ability to make everyone feel seen and heard, and that was truly her superpower. She wasn't afraid to challenge the status quo, always fighting for what she believed in with unwavering conviction. Luciana was a force for good, a true champion for those who needed it most. Her career as a social worker and politician was a testament to her dedication and compassion. Becoming a Rio de Janeiro city councilwoman was a dream come true for her, and she poured her heart and soul into her work, particularly focusing on the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. I remember countless late nights spent brainstorming ideas with her, fueled by coffee and a shared desire to make a difference. She was brilliant at finding solutions, always approaching problems with a thoughtful and empathetic mind. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Luciana was a devoted daughter, sister, and friend. Her love for her family was boundless, and she always made time for those she cared about – big celebrations, quiet dinners, just a listening ear. Luciana’s passion for life was evident in everything she pursued. She loved hiking in the mountains, losing herself in a good book, and sharing delicious Brazilian food with friends. She had a knack for finding joy in the simplest things, and she always knew how to lift the spirits of those around her. She was a constant source of inspiration, reminding us to be brave, to be kind, and to never give up on our dreams. She taught us the importance of fighting for a more just and equitable world, and she did so with grace and unwavering determination. Luciana’s passing is a profound loss, but her legacy will live on. She touched so many lives with her kindness, her strength, and her unwavering belief in the power of human connection. We will miss her terribly, but we will carry her spirit with us always. She is survived by her loving family and a community forever grateful for her service and her love. Rest in peace, dear Luciana. You will never be forgotten.
