It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mantana Morakul on March 10th, 2026, at the age of 103. Mantana, born January 1st, 1924, was a true force of nature, a radiant presence whose life overflowed with passion, artistry, and unwavering kindness. I feel so incredibly lucky to have had the privilege of knowing her. I'll never forget the time she… well, let's just say she had a laugh that could fill a room and a mischievous twinkle in her eye that hinted at countless stories. She wasn’t one for stuffiness or pretense; Mantana embraced life with an open heart and a ready smile, always making everyone around her feel seen and valued. Mantana’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with music, performance, and a deep love for her family and country. As a pioneering Thai singer and actress, she broke barriers and paved the way for generations of artists to come. Being a part of The Public Relations Department, the Suntaraporn Band, and becoming the first female singer in The Luk Krung and Early Era categories were all monumental accomplishments, but they were only a part of her story. Beyond her professional achievements, Mantana possessed a quiet grace and a profound appreciation for the simple pleasures in life – a beautiful melody, a shared laugh, a comforting cup of tea. She found joy in sharing stories, especially those from her childhood, and always had a wise word of encouragement for anyone who needed it. Mantana was the heart of our family, a constant source of strength, love, and unwavering support. She cherished her family above all else, and her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was a guiding light in their lives. She taught us the importance of perseverance, the power of kindness, and the beauty of living each day to the fullest. Her legacy extends far beyond her musical contributions; she touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, and genuine spirit. Mantana’s passing leaves a void in our hearts that will never truly be filled. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the melodies she sang, the stories she shared, and the love she so freely gave. She truly was a National Artist, not just for her talent, but for the way she enriched the lives of so many. Rest in peace, dear Mantana. You will always be loved.
