Marie-Christine Boutonnet

January 1, 1949 - March 10, 2026 (Age 77)

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Marie-Christine. She left us peacefully on March 10th, 2026, after a life that, while sometimes challenging, was always lived with a fierce spirit and a surprising warmth. Born on January 1st, 1949, Marie-Christine was a force of nature from the start. I remember once, as a child, watching her debate fiercely with my grandfather over a game of cards – she’d lose with a dramatic flourish, then immediately launch into a passionate explanation of why the rules were inherently unfair! That was Marie-Christine in a nutshell: passionate, opinionated, and always ready for a good argument, but with a twinkle in her eye and a generous heart underneath. Her dedication to her family was everything. She adored her children and grandchildren, showering them with love, encouragement, and the best homemade crêpes you’ve ever tasted. Family gatherings at her home were legendary – filled with laughter, lively discussions, and the aroma of delicious French cooking. She was the glue that held us all together, the one who remembered every birthday, every anniversary, every little detail that made each of us feel seen and cherished. Her time as a Member of the European Parliament, from 2014 to 2019, was a significant chapter in her life, a testament to her commitment to representing the people of Île-de-France, even if her views weren't always universally shared. It was a platform she used with conviction, always striving to make her voice heard. Beyond politics, Marie-Christine found joy in the simple things. She was an avid gardener, transforming her backyard into a riot of color and fragrance. She loved a good book, a strong cup of coffee, and a lively conversation. She had a knack for finding beauty in the everyday, and she shared that appreciation with everyone around her. She was a fiercely loyal friend, always ready with a listening ear and a comforting word. She had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room, even when she was juggling a million things. Marie-Christine leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering conviction. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we’ll cherish the memories of her laughter, her wisdom, and her boundless generosity. She may be gone, but the warmth of her spirit will remain with us always. *Au revoir, ma chère Marie-Christine.*
