Mark McLane
January 1, 1970 - March 19, 2026 (Age 56)
It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Mark McLane. Born on January 1st, 1970, Mark left us far too soon on March 19th, 2026, leaving a hole in our hearts and in the community he loved so dearly. He was a man of genuine warmth, a quick wit, and a smile that could light up a room. I’ll always remember the time he tried to build a birdhouse with me – it ended up looking more like a modern art sculpture than a home for feathered friends, but we laughed about it for years. That was Mark – always up for an adventure, even if it was a slightly chaotic one.
Mark was, above all, a family man. He cherished his wife, [Wife's Name - please insert], and his children, [Children's Names - please insert], with a devotion that was truly inspiring. Family dinners were legendary, filled with lively conversation, playful teasing, and Mark’s terrible (but enthusiastic) attempts at cooking. He was the kind of dad who showed up for every game, every recital, every milestone, big or small. He instilled in his kids a sense of kindness, integrity, and a love for Prince Edward Island that I know they’ll carry with them always.
Beyond his family, Mark dedicated himself to serving the people of Prince Edward Island. As an MLA for Cornwall-Meadowbank and later as Minister of Finance and Health, he approached his work with a genuine desire to make a difference. He was passionate about ensuring everyone had access to quality healthcare and a strong, stable economy. But even in the demanding world of politics, he never lost his down-to-earth nature. He remembered names, listened to concerns, and always treated everyone with respect. He found joy in connecting with people, hearing their stories, and working towards solutions.
Mark’s legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the policies he championed, and the love he shared. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a dedicated public servant, and a truly wonderful friend. We’ll miss his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering optimism. Rest easy, Mark. You made the world a better place.
