Muguette Dini
January 1, 1940 - April 9, 2026 (Age 86)
It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Muguette. Our Muguette. Born on January 1st, 1940, she left us far too soon on April 9th, 2026, at the age of 86. While many will remember her for her years of dedicated service as a Senator representing the Rhône department – a true Centrist Alliance champion – we’ll remember her for so much more. We’ll remember the twinkle in her eye, the infectious laugh that could fill a room, and the unwavering warmth she offered to everyone she met. I’ll never forget the time she convinced me to try escargots, insisting they were a delicacy and then patiently explaining how to eat them with a completely straight face! That was Muguette – always encouraging you to step outside your comfort zone, to embrace new experiences, and to find the joy in the unexpected.
Family was everything to Muguette. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a fierce and loving heart. Sunday dinners at her house were legendary – a chaotic, joyful gathering filled with laughter, lively debate (she *loved* a good debate!), and of course, incredible food. She was the glue that held us all together, the one who remembered every birthday, every anniversary, every little detail that made each of us feel seen and loved. She had a knack for making you feel like the most important person in the room, and her advice, always delivered with a gentle wisdom, was something we all treasured.
Beyond politics and family, Muguette found immense joy in the simple things. She was a passionate gardener, her roses were the envy of the neighborhood, and she could spend hours tending to her little patch of paradise. She loved a good book, a glass of wine, and a lively conversation. She travelled extensively, always eager to learn about different cultures and connect with people from all walks of life. But above all, she loved connecting with people – truly connecting, listening with genuine interest, and offering a helping hand whenever she could.
Muguette leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. She touched so many lives, and her absence will be deeply felt. We’ll miss her terribly, but we’ll carry her spirit with us – her strength, her humor, and her boundless love. Rest in peace, dear Muguette. You were, and always will be, truly unforgettable.
