Nev MacEwan

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Nev MacEwan on March 15th, 2026. Born on January 1st, 1935, Nev lived a life filled with passion, laughter, and a quiet strength that touched everyone he met. To me, Nev was simply “Nev,” a warm and dependable presence who always knew how to make me smile, even on the toughest days. I’ll always remember his booming laugh, the twinkle in his eye when he was telling a story, and his unwavering loyalty to the people he loved. He had a knack for finding the humor in everyday situations, and his optimism was infectious. It felt like a privilege to have shared so many years with him. Nev’s life was certainly shaped by his dedication to the game of rugby. Being a part of the Wellington Rugby Football Union and representing New Zealand on the national team, the All Blacks, was a source of immense pride for him. I always admired his grit and determination on the field, but more than that, I admired the gentleman he was off the field. He was a true sportsman, always respectful of his opponents and teammates. Beyond rugby, Nev was a devoted husband to [Wife’s Name], a wonderful father to [Children’s Names], and a cherished grandfather to [Grandchildren's Names].
