Noble Yeats
January 1, 2016 - April 18, 2026 (Age 10)
Noble Yeats, our beloved seven-year-old Irish Thoroughbred, left this world far too soon on April 18, 2026, after a brief battle with colic. Born on May 16, 2015, Noble Yeats wasn't just a champion racehorse—he was a gentle soul who captured hearts both on and off the track.
Those who knew him best remember a horse with an extraordinary spirit and an uncanny ability to sense when someone needed comfort. Whether it was nuzzling a nervous stable hand or standing patiently while children patted his neck, Noble Yeats had a way of making everyone feel special. His trainer often joked that Noble Yeats knew he was something special, carrying himself with a quiet confidence that never crossed into arrogance.
The pinnacle of his racing career came on that magical day at Aintree in 2022 when, under the skilled guidance of Sam Waley-Cohen, he became the first seven-year-old to win the Grand National since 1940. But ask anyone who was there, and they'll tell you the victory was about more than just the race—it was about witnessing a partnership built on trust, respect, and genuine affection. The way he powered through those famous fences, ears pricked and stride lengthening, showed the heart of a true champion.
Off the track, Noble Yeats loved nothing more than long walks through the Irish countryside, grazing in the sunshine, and the occasional polo mint treat (which he could hear being unwrapped from 50 yards away). He had a particular fondness for having his forehead scratched and would lean into you with such enthusiasm that you'd often find yourself supporting his considerable weight.
Noble Yeats leaves behind a racing legacy that will inspire generations, but more importantly, he leaves behind countless humans whose lives he touched with his gentle nature and brave heart. His spirit will live on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and in the thundering sound of hooves that will forever remind us of our magnificent friend who ran his final race far too early.
Rest easy, Noble Yeats. You ran a good race, and you ran it well.
