Reverend Grace Washington, 80, a civil rights activist, pastor, and pillar of the Atlanta community, went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2026. Her life was a testament to faith, justice, and unconditional love.
Born on Valentine's Day in Selma, Alabama, Grace marched with Dr. King and devoted her life to the struggle for equality. For 45 years, she led Ebenezer Baptist Church's outreach programs, feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, and fighting for the voiceless.
Grace believed in the power of love to heal wounds and bridge divides. Her sermons moved hearts, her activism moved mountains, and her presence moved everyone who encountered her toward becoming better people.
She is survived by her children Marcus, Deborah, and Samuel Washington; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her church family of thousands. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
