Richard, our beloved Richard, left us on March 22nd, 2026, at the age of 91. He lived a life rich with love, laughter, and a quiet dedication that touched everyone he met. He was born on January 1st, 1935, and spent his entire life in the heartland of Iowa, rooted in the communities he served so faithfully. He was first and foremost a family man. Richard's greatest joy was being **Dad** to his children, **Granddad** to his grandchildren, and **Grandpa** to his great-grandchildren. He had this way of making everyone feel seen and cherished. Serving the people of Iowa in the House of Representatives from 1994 to 2003 wasn't just a job; it was a calling driven by a genuine desire to help. He approached every challenge with integrity and a practical, down-to-earth perspective. But he also knew how to unwind.
