Roberto Arditti
January 1, 1966 - April 2, 2026 (Age 60)
Roberto Arditti left us on April 2, 2026, at the far too young age of sixty, and honestly, the world feels a little quieter without him. If you knew Roberto, you knew — there was simply no one like him. He could walk into a room and within five minutes have everyone laughing, debating, and feeling like they'd been let in on something special. He had that rare gift of making every person in front of him feel like they were the most important person in the world, and he listened — truly listened — in a way that made you want to be your best self.
Roberto was, at his core, a storyteller. As a journalist and editor at Il Tempo, he didn't just report the news — he breathed life into it. He believed words had the power to move people, to change minds, and he wielded his pen with both precision and heart. His colleagues used to say that Roberto could turn even the driest city council meeting into something you actually wanted to read over your morning espresso. That same gift carried him into television writing and radio, where his warm, unmistakable voice became a companion to countless listeners across Rome and beyond. He once told me, half-joking over a late dinner, that the best stories were always hiding in plain sight — you just had to care enough to look. And Roberto always cared.
But to his family, Roberto was so much more than the brilliant journalist. He was the husband who never forgot a date, the father who could make even a boring Tuesday evening feel like an adventure, the son who called his mother every single day without fail. His home was always full of warmth — long meals, loud conversations, and the smell of something wonderful coming from the kitchen. He loved Rome deeply, loved arguing about everything from football to philosophy, and he loved bringing people together.
The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola at Campus Martius was filled to overflowing at his funeral, which tells you everything you need to know about Roberto. He touched that many lives, that deeply. We will miss his laugh, his passion, his stubbornness, and his enormous, generous heart. But if there's one thing Roberto taught all of us, it's that a life lived with curiosity, kindness, and courage is never truly gone — it echoes in everyone it touched. And Roberto touched all of us.
