Rose Marie Heck
January 1, 1933 - March 9, 2026 (Age 93)
It’s with hearts both heavy and full of gratitude that we say goodbye to our beloved Rose Marie Heck. To those of us who knew her, she wasn’t just the formidable mayor or the respected assemblywoman; she was the woman who greeted you by name at the diner, whose laugh could brighten the gloomiest day, and whose kitchen always smelled of something wonderful—usually her famous chocolate chip cookies, baked with a love that was her secret ingredient.
Rose Marie’s passion for her community was the beat of her heart. Whether she was fighting for her neighbors in Trenton or planting flowers at the borough hall, she did everything with a fierce, unwavering belief that a community was a family. We’ll remember her not in the polished setting of a council meeting, but in the garden she tended with such pride, or fiercely debating the best route for the Memorial Day parade, her eyes twinkling with the joy of a good, shared cause. She taught us that real leadership is just love in action—patient, stubborn, and deeply kind.
But for Rose Marie, the heart of her world was her family. She was a devoted mother, a treasured grandmother, and a sister whose loyalty was a rock. Her home was a haven of loud stories, shared jokes, and endless support. She celebrated our triumphs as if they were her own and held us through our struggles with a strength that felt infinite. The love she gave so freely was the true legacy she built, brick by brick, in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and the countless “extra” kids she adopted into her circle with open arms.
So, we celebrate Rose Marie Heck—the politician, the matriarch
