Rose Marie Heck

January 1, 1933 - March 10, 2026 (Age 93)

It’s hard to believe we’re saying goodbye to Rose Marie Heck. Our hearts are just overflowing with memories of a woman who truly lived life to the fullest, and whose warmth and spirit touched so many of us. Born on January 1st, 1933, Rose passed away peacefully on March 10th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a whole lot of laughter. I’ll always remember her infectious giggle – it could light up a room! She had this incredible ability to make everyone feel seen and valued, whether you were a lifelong friend or just met her at the grocery store. I recall one time, I was struggling with a particularly tricky recipe, and Rose, without hesitation, came over, rolled up her sleeves, and we spent the afternoon baking together, covered in flour and sharing stories. That’s just who she was – always ready to lend a hand and make things a little brighter. Rose was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, George, and a fiercely loving mother to her children. Family was everything to her, and she poured her heart and soul into creating a home filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of her famous apple pie. She cherished her grandchildren, showering them with hugs, encouragement, and a seemingly endless supply of homemade cookies. Beyond her family, Rose was deeply committed to her community. Many of you will remember her years of service as Mayor of Hasbrouck Heights, first from 1988 to 1995 and then again from 2008 to 2015, and her time as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly. She wasn’t in politics for the power; she was there because she genuinely cared about making a difference in people’s lives, fighting for what she believed in, and ensuring everyone had a voice. When she wasn't busy serving the public, Rose could be found tending to her beautiful garden, a riot of color and fragrance that reflected her own vibrant personality. She loved a good crossword puzzle, a lively game of cards, and spending time with friends, always ready with a witty remark and a warm embrace. She had a knack for finding joy in the simple things – a sunny afternoon, a good book, a shared cup of coffee. Rose Marie Heck leaves behind a void that can never truly be filled, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. She taught us the importance of kindness, the power of community, and the beauty of a life well-lived. We’ll miss her dearly, but we’ll always remember her with love and gratitude. Rest in peace, dear Rose.
