Rostyslav Stepanovych Chapiuk—Rostik to those who knew him best—left this world on March 7, 2026, at the age of 88, but the warmth of his spirit and the strength of his character will remain with us always. Born on May 22, 1937, in a small Ukrainian village, Rostik's early years were shaped by resilience and a deep connection to the land. Those who knew him recall his stories of childhood—of long days helping in the fields, of community gatherings filled with song, and of a quiet determination that would carry him through life. Rostik's dedication to his homeland led him to a career in public service. As a member of the Peasant Party of Ukraine, he served as a People's Deputy from 1994 to 1998, where his steady presence and thoughtful approach earned him the respect of colleagues and constituents alike. But those closest to him knew that his greatest achievements were not in the halls of government, but in the everyday moments of love and laughter shared with family and friends. He had a gift for making everyone feel seen and valued, whether through a kind word, a shared meal, or a story told with that familiar twinkle in his eye. Family was the center of Rostik's world. He adored his children and grandchildren, always ready with a hug, a piece of advice, or a silly joke to brighten their day. His home was a place of welcome, where the table was always full and the conversation flowed late into the evening.
