Song Ping

January 1, 1918 - March 5, 2026 (Age 108)

We are heartbroken to say goodbye to our beloved Song Ping, who peacefully departed this world on March 5, 2026, at the remarkable age of 108. He lived a life that spanned a century of immense change, yet through it all, he remained a constant source of quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and deep affection for those he loved. Though history will remember him as a dedicated statesman who served China as Governor of Gansu, State Councillor, and head of the Organization Department, we remember him first as our dear husband, father, grandfather, and friend โ€“ a man whose warmth and gentle wisdom were his true legacy. Song Ping found profound joy in life's simple pleasures. He adored spending quiet mornings tending to his small garden, finding solace and satisfaction in nurturing plants, much like he nurtured people throughout his long career. His eyes would light up when speaking of his travels through the Gansu countryside he once governed, reminiscing about the rugged beauty and resilient spirit of its people. He was a voracious reader, always eager to learn, and possessed a dry, subtle wit that could disarm even the most serious discussion. Above all, he cherished his family fiercely; his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was the bedrock of his life, a constant source of pride and comfort. He never missed a birthday, always listened intently, and offered advice that was never preachy, always wise. Song Pingโ€™s impact was immeasurable. He mentored countless young people with patience and genuine belief in their potential, instilling in them a sense of duty and compassion that mirrored his own. He treated everyone with respect, from world leaders to the local shopkeeper, believing deeply in the inherent worth of every individual. He leaves behind not
