Stefanos Borbokis

It’s with a heart full of both sorrow and gratitude that we share the passing of Stefanos Borbokis, who left us on April 12th, 2026, at the age of 59. Stefanos was a man of passion, a fighter on the field, and a deeply loving brother, son, uncle, and friend. Born on January 1st, 1967, Stefanos lived a life filled with energy and a genuine zest for everything he pursued. Many knew him for his impressive career as a forward and winger, playing for PAOK FC and representing the Greece national team – but those of us who knew him best knew that his true brilliance lay in his warmth and unwavering spirit. Growing up, Stefanos and his brother Vasilios were inseparable. Their shared love for football was a constant thread in their lives, a bond that extended far beyond the pitch. I remember countless hours spent watching them play, their spirited competition always tempered with affection and respect. Stefanos wasn't just a talented athlete; he was a natural leader, inspiring those around him with his dedication and positive attitude. He had a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a laugh that could fill a room – a laugh that we will miss dearly. Beyond football, Stefanos had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures: a good meal, a lively conversation, and spending time with family and friends. Stefanos's impact extended far beyond the football stadium. He had a knack for making people feel seen and valued. He was generous with his time, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. He instilled in those around him the importance of hard work, perseverance, and above all, loyalty. He poured his heart and soul into his role as a manager with Thermaikos Thermis F.C., demonstrating the same dedication and passion he brought to his playing career. He wasn’t just focused on wins and losses; he cared deeply about the people he worked with and fostered a sense of camaraderie and respect. Stefanos leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering spirit. He will be forever remembered for his infectious enthusiasm, his kind heart, and the joy he brought into the lives of so many. He is survived by his loving family, who will carry his memory in their hearts always. We will miss his booming laugh, his competitive spirit, and his genuine warmth. Though he is no longer with us, the echoes of his life will continue to inspire us all.
