Tore Ryen
January 1, 1947 - May 11, 2026 (Age 79)
There’s a hole in our hearts now that Tore Ryen has left us, but oh, how brightly he lit up the world while he was here. Born in January 1947, Tore wasn't just a brilliant television writer and producer, the creative force behind beloved shows like 'Mot i brøstet'; he was the heart and soul of our family, a storyteller who could make the ordinary feel extraordinary. We remember his booming, infectious laughter that could fill a room, his knack for seeing the funny side of everything, and the way he’d gather us around the kitchen table, not just for coffee, but for impromptu storytelling sessions that left us breathless and warm. His love for his family was fierce and tender; he adored his children, doted on his grandchildren with unwavering pride, and was the rock we always leaned on, offering wisdom wrapped in a joke.
Tore’s passions were simple and true. He found immense joy in the act of creation itself, whether crafting a sharp revue sketch or penning a scene that made millions laugh. He loved the rugged beauty of the Norwegian landscape and could often be found hiking, finding solace and inspiration in the mountains. He was a man of deep curiosity and kindness, always ready with a kind word or a listening ear. His greatest pleasure, though, was shared moments – long, meandering walks with his wife, lively debates over dinner with friends, and the sheer, unadulterated delight of watching his family thrive. He found magic in the everyday.
The impact Tore had on others was immeasurable. Through his work, he brought joy to countless homes, creating characters and stories that became part of Norway's cultural fabric. But closer to home, he was the person who made everyone feel seen and valued. He was a mentor to many, sharing his passion with generosity, and a friend whose loyalty was absolute. Tore Ryen lived life with passion, humor, and an open heart. He taught us all to cherish the people we love and to never lose our sense of wonder. We’ll miss his laugh terribly, but his spirit, his stories, and his immense love will live on in
