Try Sutrisno

January 1, 1936 - March 2, 2026 (Age 90)

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Try Sutrisno, who passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026 at the age of 90. Try was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose warm smile and generous spirit touched countless lives. Try was born in Surabaya in 1935 and dedicated his life to serving his country, rising through the ranks of the Indonesian military to eventually become Vice President from 1993-1998. But those who knew him best remember Try not for his impressive titles and career, but for his unwavering integrity, his infectious laugh, and his ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Family was everything to Try. He adored his wife of 62 years, Siti, and was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. Try never missed a family gathering if he could help it, always arriving with a big hug and a twinkle in his eye. He loved organizing family trips and outings, believing strongly in the importance of spending quality time together. In his rare moments of spare time, Try enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing chess. He had a green thumb and took great pride in his rose bushes, often sharing cuttings with neighbors and friends. Try was also an avid reader of history books and loved engaging in lively political discussions. Above all, Try will be remembered for his kindness, his wisdom, and his dedication to making the world a better place. He had a way of seeing the best in people and always lent a helping hand to those in need. Try's legacy of service, both to his nation and his community, will live on through the many lives he touched. Try is survived by his loving wife Siti, his children, grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. While our hearts ache with his loss, we find comfort knowing that Try's spirit of generosity, his zest for life, and his unwavering moral compass will continue to guide and inspire us. Until we meet again, Om Try. Terima kasih for everything. You will forever be in our hearts.
