Valentin Gneushev

January 1, 1952 - March 12, 2026 (Age 74)

Valentin Alexandrovich Gneushev, our beloved husband, father, and friend, left this world on March 11, 2026, at the age of 74. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, passion, and love that touched countless lives around the globe. Valya, as those closest to him knew him, had a gift for bringing joy to others through his art. Born in Moscow in 1951, he discovered his calling early in life and went on to become one of the most celebrated circus directors of our time. His work with Cirque du Soleil and the Moscow State Circus brought wonder and magic to audiences worldwide. But what made Valya truly special wasn't just his professional achievements—it was his ability to see the extraordinary in the ordinary and to help others find their own spark of brilliance. At home, Valya was a devoted family man who never missed a family dinner or his daughter's school performances, no matter how demanding his international tours became. He had a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any room, and he was famous among friends for his impromptu magic tricks and his ability to make everyone feel like the most important person in the room. His workshop was always open to neighborhood children who wanted to learn a new skill, and he never turned away someone who needed advice or encouragement. Valya's greatest joy came from his family. He and his beloved wife, Irina, shared 48 years of marriage built on mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support. Their daughter, Natasha, inherited her father's creative spirit and compassionate heart. In his later years, Valya found immense happiness in teaching his grandchildren the art of juggling and the importance of chasing their dreams, no matter how impossible they might seem. Though the world has lost a true artist, we who loved him have lost our guiding light. Valya taught us that life, like a circus performance, is about finding balance, taking risks, and always getting back up when we fall. His spirit will continue to inspire us every time we witness an act of kindness, share a moment of laughter, or dare to dream a little bigger. As he would say in his final bow, "Thank you, and good night"—though for those who knew him, his light will never truly fade.
