Deanna Drew Martin

Deanna Martin (1961–2026) Deanna was a pillar in the Centre County community; passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health, connecting people through her loving and humorous personality, and living life to the fullest. Whether it be speaking publicly about her own mental health journey, participating in community events, like Jana Marie Foundation’s JAM FEST, greeting people at Opportunity Centre Clubhouse or calling in to the WOWY radio station, Deanna was the ultimate social butterfly. Deanna was born in State College, Pa in 1961 and remained a proud resident of Centre County throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her mother, whom she was very close with. She was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and reconnected with some of her classmates later in life, who became very close to her. Deanna never met a stranger; she had a rare gift for turning even a brief encounter into a lasting friendship. In time, many of those friendships grew into bonds that felt like family. Deanna was an active member of the Opportunity Centre Clubhouse for more than a decade, and—because she was there nearly every day—was affectionately known as the Clubhouse mascot. Over the years, she welcomed countless people with a warm greeting at the door and a friendly voice on the Clubhouse phone. She was also a familiar face at the local Active Adult Center, where she continued to share her infectious spirit with everyone she met. Everyone who knew Deanna knew how much she loved the color purple, singing along to her favorite songs, enjoying conversation with loved ones over a delicious meal, and spreading her compassion for others and joy through arts and crafts. Deanna will always be remembered for her special blend of sweetness with just the right touch of spice. Every time we hear the songs “Betty Davis Eyes” or “Dancing Queen”, we’ll smile and think of her. A celebration of life will be held on June 3rd, 2026 at Opportunity Centre Clubhouse from 10am-12pm.
