Dr. Aisha Patel

Dr. Aisha Patel, 57, a pioneering researcher and compassionate healer, passed away on January 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her groundbreaking work in pediatric oncology saved countless lives and inspired a generation of doctors. Born in Mumbai, India, Aisha immigrated to the United States at age 12. She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard Medical School and dedicated her career to finding better treatments for childhood cancers. Her research led to three FDA-approved therapies and earned her numerous accolades, including the Presidential Medal of Science. Despite her professional achievements, Aisha's greatest joy was her family and her patients. She treated every child as if they were her own, staying late to comfort worried parents and celebrating each milestone with genuine delight. Aisha is survived by her husband, Dr. Rajesh Patel; children Priya and Arjun; her mother Lakshmi Sharma; and siblings Ravi and Meera. A memorial fund has been established in her name at Boston Children's Hospital.
