Emily Grace Anderson, 33, of Seattle, Washington, passed away on January 24, 2026, in a hiking accident on Mount Rainier.
Emily lived life with extraordinary passion and purpose. An environmental scientist and activist, she dedicated her career to protecting the Pacific Northwest's old-growth forests and salmon habitats.
She founded the nonprofit "Wild Tomorrow" and led successful campaigns that preserved over 50,000 acres of wilderness. Emily believed deeply in leaving the world better than she found it.
An accomplished violinist, climber, and writer, Emily inspired everyone she met with her infectious enthusiasm and unwavering optimism.
She is survived by her parents Mark and Susan; her brother Jake; her fiancé Alex; and countless friends and colleagues whose lives she enriched.
A celebration of Emily's life will be held at Discovery Park on February 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wild Tomorrow to continue Emily's vital work.
