Margaret Anne Johnson

March 11, 1936 - May 8, 2026 (Age 90)

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Margaret Anne Johnson, beloved mother, teacher, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at the age of 92. Born in Boston on March 11, 1936, Margaret’s life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, humility, and the guiding light of Scripture. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Psalmist, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” (Jeremiah 29:11). From the first breath, Margaret trusted in God’s providence, and her journey of faith was marked by a steadfast devotion to the Kingdom of Heaven. In her years of ministry, Margaret poured her love into the classroom, teaching at Boston Latin High School for thirty years. She treated each student as a precious soul, encouraging them to see the divine spark within. “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) Her lesson plans were infused with biblical wisdom, and she guided many with the same grace and patience that Christ showed to the disciples. Outside the school, she served her church with unwavering commitment—administering communion, leading the choir, and volunteering for the outreach program that fed the hungry. Her leadership as an Eagle Scout mentor and her service to the community earned her the Community Volunteer Award, a recognition of her lifelong commitment to loving one’s neighbor. Margaret’s family was her greatest blessing. She raised her daughter, Matilda Anne‑Phillips, with a heart full of compassion and faith, teaching her the words of the Apostle Paul: “Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12). Her home was a sanctuary where Scripture was read aloud, prayers were offered, and the Lord’s grace was shared over tea and homemade treats. Even in the quiet moments of gardening or woodworking, Margaret whispered prayers of gratitude, reminding us that “the earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” (Psalm 24:1) Even as the seasons of her life changed, Margaret’s hope remained anchored in the promise of eternal life. She found comfort in the assurance that “the Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1). Her faith was a beacon that guided her through the joys and trials of a long life. In her final days, she was surrounded by loving family, her hands clasped in prayer as she prepared to meet her Savior. “We are all children of the light.” (1 John 1:5) Margaret’s soul now rests in the presence of the One who “does not abandon his people.” (Isaiah 57:1) May the Lord bless Margaret and keep her, and may His mighty hand lift her into the eternal dawn where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, only the everlasting joy of being in His presence. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her, as we remember her with grateful hearts. Amen.
