Margaret "Maggie" Rose Thompson, 90, passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Maggie dedicated her life to teaching and community service.
A beloved elementary school teacher for 42 years, Maggie touched the lives of thousands of students at Ashley River Elementary. Her classroom was a place of wonder, where every child felt seen and valued. Even in retirement, she volunteered at the local library, reading to children every Saturday morning.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert Thompson. She is survived by her three children: Elizabeth (David) Morrison, Robert Jr. (Susan) Thompson, and Catherine (Michael) Stevens; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
